Freespace 2: The Trap
5This is the eleventh single mission from the Freespace 2 Game of the Year edition. We occupy the role of a pilot returning to Special Operations Command service, implied but not stated to be Freespace 2's Alpha 1. We are in Polaris soon after the collapse of the Capella jump nodes. GTVI has developed a subspace beacon that attracts Shivans and mounted it on the GVD Kortan. We intend to use the subspace pulse to draw the Shivans who entered Vega before the destruction of the node into a trap, comprised of an array of Mjolnir remote beam cannons and the Kortan herself. Our role is to fly fighter cover for the operation and ensure the Shivans do not manage to destroy the Kortan - if they do, the prototype weapon will be lost.
