My friendly enemies; this ain't peace, this is WAR!
I've been holding this idea for more than a month. It's the first thing I've written since finishing Vengeful Spirit, and was written on my Sterling SR30 at first. I honestly wasn't happy with it to begin with, but the chorus riff stuck, and eventually I rewrote it and restructured it into a simple VCVCBCC song. The instrumentation really carries this one. And some more vocal work, thankfully! I have fun singing, even if I'm not good at it!
Speaking of singing, this song is about panic attacks. I've started having more panic attacks than I usually do, attributed in part and no fault to my new co-workers at my job. If nothing else, they inadvertently started my new panic attack situation, but it got to the point that immediately after the Vengeful Spirit listening party, I had a panic attack, and then had another one a few hours later. It's died down a little, but there's still that underlying fear of having another one.
I'm working on a video that will go more in depth on what happened to me and what caused it. I know the origin, I know the trigger, so I'm able to control it to some extent. However, after having another panic attack on the 28th of December after coming home from work, I began writing the idea for Friendly Enemies and finalising the lyrics. Before I knew it, I had a song that upon four different opinions prior to releasing this, is perhaps my best and most meaningful song. I made one of those people cry, actually, which I take as a badge of honour.
