Let's fucking do this!
Let it be known, this one has been almost two years in the making. Back in 2022, the week I decided to take a few month's break, this was going to be the cover for that week. I've always wanted to revisit it, but it never found its way into my cover regimen for the year, and thus faded further and further into the background. However, with the Geometry Dash 2.2 update and just getting generally back into the game, I got reminded of how absolutely incredible this song is. It's really simple dubhouse music, but translating it to guitar was where the fun lay. It's probably one of the easiest covers I've done from a technical standpoint, the layering was where the complexity arose.
One issue I had with my first cover of this song was that the original has so much high frequency information that makes it feel fuller than it is, and I felt unable to capture it. Every mix I made didn't feel quite right, until I remembered that this song is from 2012, and frankly it's not particularly well mixed in general. So, once I came to that realisation, everything fell into place. In fact, I thought early on that I'd need to use a lot of synthesizers, but after recording everything, I somehow managed to make this mix feel exactly the way I wanted it to, and completely by accident. There are points of dead air, but I think I did something really cool, and with guitars alone!
