Welcome back to the recording guide! This week, I'll be showing off basic mixing and a top down mixing perspective!
Mixing can be very hard to nail. It's an incredibly delicate balancing act and will take time to get used to. A mix can be divided into three sections: the melody, the band, and the background. Knowing what instruments are part of what category is very crucial; obviously the main melody part is the melody, the rhythms, bass, and drums are part of the band and harmonies, backing leads, dubs, and synth elements are part of the background. But you can very easily bring a background instrument into the band, or a band instrument into the melody. It's a VERY delicate balancing act, so be mindful of where your instruments need to be placed.
I am more than happy to answer any questions you have in the comments! Please ask away as necessary!
