REVIEW:
----------------------------------------------------------

This game is certainly a combination of polarizing adjectives used to describe it. Weird but calm, surreal but peaceful. Fugue In Void is a non-threatening fantasy experience of visual and audible expression, inviting your senses to explore an uncanny representation of implications only the viewer can interpret.

Long story short, it seems that the person you control is visiting a VR world of strange and peculiar environments. There really isn't a plot as each new area switches between abstract and literal. Directly, each area showcases something different to expand upon but in a meta sense, it seems up to the person playing to understand underlying impressions and they're free to think however they want about it, simple or complex.

Gameplay is extremely bare minimum. A good chunk of the game is either a cutscene to watch, moving around to stand on switches and simply make your way from the start of the level to the end or being put in an area where you'll poof 20-30 seconds later after exploring a bit. I think it's safe to say what you see and hear has more emphasis than physical interaction. At least the game isn't as cliché as walking simulators along with games that hold your hand all too often and allow the player to play at their own pace.

It's not often I come across games providing experiences like this before. Perhaps in an artistic approach similar to Gris or Child of Light or Limbo but these examples impose a lot more gameplay and plot to their visual/audible experiences. Fugue in Void is instead the type where while it makes you enjoy what you're witnessing, it also provides the opportunity of depth in meaning and what the player can take away from it without needing to rely on tropes often used in games. As long as you're willing to experiment with different genres and their approaches to "interactive experiences", Fugue in Void is definitely one to try out and broaden your horizons
