Krampus got competition 👀

REVIEW:
----------------------------------------------------------

Short but sweet indie horror game where you read a book and weird things happen. Then eventually you die. Not much more besides that.

Always down to enjoy a pixelated horror game, no matter how rudimentary it is. It got the main idea across pretty clearly as the more you read about the Tornuktu, the more ominous your environment feels in that something is coming.

I really liked the uncanny look the snowmen had, I know the book suggests that dead people make up the snowmen bodies but the faces seem really off-putting, it's a nice detail.

Considering how the game paced itself with the explanation of the Tornuktu in the book, it sets up for the type of ending where you pretty much die and that's it. Normally more fleshed out games I dislike this trope but the game emphasized eeriness over time until your eventual doom so I'm fine with that. I had a feeling it was going to be a matter-of-fact type of game where you encounter whatever antagonizing force is after you and that's game over.

All in all, another nice addition to indie horror games I've played. A simple but respectable approach to horror with nothing unnecessary dragging things out. You can count on Itch.io to host some pretty neat games, free to boot as well.
