FX Fighter Turbo (OLD VERSION) PC Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A complete playthrough with Jake through the one-player mode of GTE Entertainment's 1996 Windows 95 versus-fighting game, FX Fighter Turbo.

As much as I loved the original FX Fighter, I had high hopes for this one when it came out. Unfortunately, it's largely the same game, and the changes weren't for the better.
There are two new characters here that don't appear in the original, and a couple of new game modes. The graphics when looking at stills are a big improvement, but the game's performance is absolutely terrible, turning it into a stuttering mess on all but the lowest detail settings on a Pentium 200 MMX (that CPU wasn't released until 1998... nearly two years after this game was published).
I left the character textures on, but I turned off the character shading along with any texturing on the floor to get the game to run the way it is in the video. Considering the original ran fairly well on a machine half this speed, I'm not entirely sure what happened. A lack of artistry with DirectX 3, perhaps? There is no fluidity to it whatsoever outside of the movie sequences.
Anyways, one side note: the game does have voices running over the intro video. However, my disc seems to not want to play them properly (every couple of seconds the audio is replaced with ear-piercing digital garbage), so I recorded one of the in-game music tracks and pasted it over the messed up audio. The rest of the game recording is untouched.
If you were curious about this game (and I imagine a fair number of people would be, since the game is virtually impossible to run properly on a virtual machine, and I haven't found a single gameplay video of it on YouTube), you'd be best off considering your curiosity sated and not going to the effort to play the game. The payoff is... underwhelming, to say the least. And this from one of FX Fighter's biggest fans! Why, Argonaut?
