Galaxy S10e vs iPhone XR | Camera Comparison
Comparing Samsung's Galaxy S10e camera tech with Apple's iPhone XR, after several days of testing, to see which is best for photo and video quality.
Both of these phones are more 'affordable' versions of the full-fat flagships, although at £669 and £749 respectively, they'll still drain your bank account. Unfortunately you don’t even get the same premium camera hardware as those flagship phones (the S10 and iPhone XS) either, but both the iPhone XR and Galaxy S10e do both still rock some very capable optics.
For the specs, Apple's handset hosts a single lens 12MP shooter with fixed f/1.8 aperture and OIS. Meanwhile the Galaxy S10e also has a 12MP primary lens with OIS, and this time also a dynamic aperture, switching between f/1.5-f/2.4 to take photos in a range of conditions. This is backed by a second 16MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture.
Image quality varies between the two smartphones, as you'll see in this comparison. Samsung's snapper produces smooth 4K video with the option for HDR10+ or the new Super Steady feature. However, we prefer the iPhone for quality HDR and night shots, especially when capturing cityscapes.
As for the selfie cameras, the Galaxy S10e has a 10MP f/1.9 shooter, while the iPhone XR rocks a 7MP f/2.2 lens.
