Galaxy Siege 2 is a rather interesting little game. It's got a bit of vertical shooters, cross-bred with resource gathering, a sprinkle of ship-building, and just a dash of tower defense. It sounds like a mish mash that shouldn't work at all, but once you get started playing it, it turns out to be rather addictive. Let's take a look at it then.

At first, it seems like the game is a typical vertical shooter where you pilot a space ship blasting apart wave after endless wave of baddies. While it certainly incorporates some of that, there's more to it that makes the game a unique little bundle of leisurely fun all on its own.

Before we get to the game play though, let's have a looksee at the graphics. There's nothing really epically special with the graphics, but they certainly look pretty enough for the game. There are lovely little animations, quirky little graphics, and overall, lots of aesthetically pleasing little bits and pieces all over the place. Again, it's nothing special, but you won't be bored either.

Where the game shines is the game play though. In the game, you take control of a large ship. You can drag and drop different modules onto and off of your ship, thus configuring it into hundreds of different combinations. How you configure the ship will drastically affect how well you perform a specific run. It's up to you where to place your guns, fuel tanks, laser beams, etc... As in tower defense games, these guns have a specific radius that they can affect, so where you place them is vitally important.

Another interesting mechanic is how you have to arm your ship with grabbers. These grabbers slowly (or quickly, depending how far you've upgraded said grabbers) reach out and grab stuff along the way. These could be anything from enemy weapons to fuel refills, or more probably, the blue gems you use for money or the gold stars you use to unlock things.

There's an art then, to striking the perfect balance between loading your ship up with an improbable number of guns to easily blast things into space dust (insert obligatory pew-pew-pew laser sound effects here) within seconds, or so many grabbers that you can sweep an entire sector clear of goodies in a single run. Obviously, a compromise between the two is in order if you want to actually get anywhere. You will, of course, also have to to provide fuel as insufficient fuel will mean that your ship is unable to even get to the end of a sector. Once you're able to unlock them, you'll also have to make room for shields which will allow you to survive a bit longer.

The game can easily get quite addictive, as the drive to unlock everything and beat all of the levels is quite strong. It's a fun little game, and you should thus be ready to spend a few hours on it. And that about wraps it up for Galaxy Siege 2, go on and have a blast with it, you won't regret the choice to!
