One single step and everything changes. That's what you are going to experience with the help of this small slime, in this challenging arcade and platform-based game called Slimey's Quest. There are no missions notes that will appear. You just need to step on the red button to access the next level. But once you step on it, you won't get warped on a new area. Instead, the whole place will change and new platforms will appear or disappear. Small enemy slimes will appear too and you can step on them. Watch out for the spikes because Slimey will get killed instantly when you step on them.

Overview:

You basically play a slime called Slimey, although he doesn’t look that much of like a slime. Then again he’s the main character so he gets the benefit of the doubt. Slimey’s Quest is a game where there are no levels but an endless chain of events as you move Slimey around. If you haven’t played the game, then do it already so that way you’ll see what Slimey is really after once the game ends. There’s also that thought process about will it the game end?

Aesthetics:

Slimey’s Quest features some classic graphics dating back to the 32 bit days. You get to see your favorite pixels and monotone backgrounds. Those were the glory days for the 32 bit gamers. Slimey himself doesn’t look much of a slime. He looks like a green block with those puppy dog eyes. The visual aspects of the game are simple to say the least. The sound is not very reminiscent of the 32 bit games. That’s because the music playing is modernized and doesn’t sound anything like those classic 32 games. Then again that’s not to say that the music is bad but is kind of weird being mixed with the type of visuals that the game has. It’s still a good audio trip either way.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is very simple and one key phrase here is that in the game “you will not die” We’ll get to that later as we’ll go over with the mechanics first. You control Slimey our main green character. You can control him with the use of the keyboard with specific keys to move left, right and jump. The objective is to hit the buttons that you see on the ground or placed anywhere in the game. Once that button is pressed, the surroundings will change to a different one and you have to press the button again. In some instances when there are no buttons to press there are characters so it seems that you need to jump over. Once you jump over these characters, the surroundings will change again. When you progress further, the requirements of changing the surroundings will vary. There could be a number of buttons or a number of characters as well as a combination of both. The changes in surroundings are clearly patterned every time you start the game from the beginning. The patterns are a bit unpredictable for those playing for the first time. It could be a flat surface in the first instant and suddenly change into multiple platforms on the next instance. It is a single screen game so there’s no point of moving forward. You just have to keep pressing those buttons until Slimey finishes or doesn’t finish his quest. There’s not a lot if not none in the way of power-ups or special items that you can obtain. There are spikes in the game and touching them won’t kill you. You’ll start back from where you came but you won’t die in this game.
