Hey everyone, it's Vince here! Welcome back to another game dev vlog.
First up, Sneaky Snacks has received a significant update. I've rolled out a new patch allowing players to replay levels, following up on the previous addition of a Timeless mode. This was in direct response to community feedback on Steam, highlighting the importance of listening and adapting as a developer. However, implementing this feature was quite the adventure, as it initially broke the game! It took me a day to diagnose the issue, which required a complete recoding of the level system. Now, once you beat the storyline and reach level 20, a replay icon appears next to each level, allowing for endless enjoyment of your favorite moments.
I've also received a suggestion to modify the hint system, offering an option to save hints for later use. It's clear that engaging with the community and considering their requests is crucial, especially for a game still in its early stages like Sneaky Snacks. Your feedback not only supports the game's growth but also shapes its direction.
On another note, Sneaky Snacks uses AI for some of its art components. I'm aware there's a bit of skepticism around AI art in games, but I assure you, this doesn't mean a compromise on quality or attention. This approach is a starting point, and I aim to transition to traditional art as soon as it's viable. The game is constantly being updated and there are currently 31 achievements to unlock while it's not on special at the moment it's available for purchase and every bit of support is greatly appreciated.
Shifting gears to my new project, the tower defense game, I've made significant progress since our last update. Moving away from the previous AI art system, I've significantly improved the graphics, which now look crisp, HD, and far more engaging. This update doesn't include a zoom feature as I'm focused on perfecting the core gameplay first. We've got animated flames, a functional gold currency system for building management, and a wave system introducing zombies to challenge your defenses. Despite the animation quality being a work in progress, the current system is a vast improvement over the initial setup.
Creating a game with a balanced difficulty, engaging gameplay, and a rewarding progression system is my goal. I'm thrilled with the direction it's heading and look forward to making it a unique addition to the tower defense genre, possibly including a customizable hero feature in the future.
That's all for today's devlog thanks for watching see you next time.
