In a big blow to capture aficionados everywhere, Microsoft has announced plans to shut down the Xbox Console Companion App in late August. This app was the primary way to directly import and download screenshots from Xbox consoles to a PC. The way it works is that clips and screenshots captured on an Xbox console would be uploaded to Xbox LIVE, and then users could access those captures through the Companion App and download them to a local machine.

One of the main critiques levied against the Xbox Series S is that it's holding gaming back--it's a weaker budget console that serves as an in-between for last and current-gen hardware. That means devs have to optimise games not only for the Xbox Series X but also for a much weaker system, all without sacrificing performance and quality. However, Larian Studios CEO and Baldur's Gate 3 creative lead Swen Vincke says that "the platform is perfectly fine".
"Do I think it holds [gaming] back?" Vincke said in an interview with Skill Up. "It just defines certain parameters within which you have to develop. There are ways of doing that - it just takes development effort [...] Despite us having grown, we don't have infinite resources. That means we can't do everything at the same time."

As reported via Xbox News Wire earlier this month, Xbox is planning one of the biggest booths it’s ever had at Gamescom this year. This seemingly isn’t just marketing talk either, with Insider Gaming being told by its sources that the team is going “all out” this year for the annual event.
It’s understood that playable games will include the likes of the highly anticipated Forza Motorsport, GSC Game World’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Towerborne. With these games being playable to attendees, we should expect to hear more details on each of the games during the event. Gamescom’s Opening Night Live is one of the most likely places for such announcements, which promises “numerous world premieres and exciting announcements.”
