I have a game review coming out tomorrow on Crusader Kings III - the Legends of the Dead DLC and I really wanted make a positive, happy, feel-food review about the game, but I couldn't because I feel we need to address the elephant in the room and that is as gamers we are pigs. We are pigs and we are shitting where we eat and we have become the problem.

Somehow it has become acceptable to leave a negative review on a DLC that you haven't played. The DLC for Legends of the Dead released on 4 March and yet someone who has played 0.0 in the last two weeks is going to comment on how the game plays. What? How? How can you leave a review on something you've not personally played.

Now, I know in some games, you can leave reviews on what you see or experience vicariously through watching a streamer, but in a game like CK3 you can't really tell the politics unless its you seeing everything, making the decisions.

We, as gamers, have come to accept some unrealistic level of hours to dollars ratio in our video game entertainment, but we have no problem shelling out $20 for a Five Guys Burger meal, $15 for movie tickets, or $25 for a ultra 4K super scaling DVD that we'll probably watch once and then put on the shelf. Yet somehow a DLC that's $19.99 is "ripping us off" and "overpriced"

Not every game that comes out is going to be AAAAAAAAAA quality, Game of the Year, Game of the Century, Best Game of All time, and we can't expect them to be.

But, if you get 20 hours out of a game (or DLC) that you paid $20 for, I think that's called winning.

And, for all the people who spent $49.99 on the base CK3 game 3 years ago, who haven't gotten I think now 6 free content updates, well if you have 300, 600, 1k+ or more hours in the game and you haven't put anything into the game other than the non-dlc core game purchase, you've absolutely gotten your money's worth.
