This is the VOD from my recent livestream where I continued the discussion from the video https://youtu.be/mJPR3ayTlsg about the MMORPG genre dying.

There was a lot of good discussion in the video, especially the idea behind both instant gratification as well as players being part of the problem. MMORPG players seem destined to continue to attack anyone who disagrees with the direction they want a particular game to take. Certain players become self-appointed gate-keepers of a community, ultimately driving off new players.

The older players need to face a new reality that the days of the old MMORPG are gone. The new generation favors a different, faster lobby-based, faster match-making, instant gratification sort of game play, while the older gamers want that slow rolling, longer lead time, in it for weeks or months to accomplish something nostalgia sort of gameplay.

Is there some sort of common middle ground for the two generations so we can have a new MMORPG that actually exceeds expectations? Or are we doomed to have an endless collection of games like Bless, Elyon, New World, and Crowfall where the games either shut down shortly after launch, or limp along with a very small playerbase?

Many people left comments on the YouTube Video, but I took this one over to Twitch to have the discussion there and it didn't disappoint.
