Yo!

Here's another devlog video for Gearend, my 2D Metroid-like in development with the BDX game engine. I'm aiming to have it be available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

It's turning out pretty well so far!

Lots of changes in this video; even some stuff that I forgot to cover! Since it's too much (?) to refer to here in text, I'll just mention the stuff that I missed in the video.

- I added replenishing HP (heart) and EP (battery) pickups. They drop from enemies with a certain percentage of chance (33%); even so, they kinda seem rare? I dunno. They both replenish a large amount of each respective gauge, but that amount is fixed (so when you have much more HP and EP, you'll need more pickups to top off your gauge). I think it should work out fine, though. Not sure if I'll add a "Big Heart / Battery" to replenish more. I might actually dumb down the amount that the pickups replenish at the moment; I'll have to check it out.

- The new core part has a passive ability. Every third hit is deflected, which means that you essentially have more health (I guess I could have just expanded the health gauge, but whatever!)

Note to future SolarLune: Use something higher than 96 Kbps bitrate audio, haha. Sorry about the "scrunchy" audio, everybody!

Anyway, thanks for watching! If you really like my stuff, feel free to throw me a bone by buying something over on my Itch.io page here:

Or something over on my Bandcamp page here:

Thanks!
