GeForce GTX 2080 / 1180 Release Date Teased | Why Have These GPUs Taken So Long?
416Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1180 / 2080 cards have been long awaited, and with the Pascal series now 2 years old, it's high time we seen new gpus on the horizon. whether the new geforce cards are the 11 / 20 series, there's a lot of unanswered questions - including both the specs and release date.
According to nvidia themselves, we won't have much longer to wait, with Hot Chips 30 conference being the home to a discussion by Nvidia's team on the next generation gaming geforce cards from the company.
The next generation geforce cards will almost certainly sport GDDR6 memory, and whether the gtx 2080 / gtx 1180 turns out to be ampere, pascal refresh, turing or some variant of volta or not, GDDR6 is almost a certainty.
Performance of these cards isn't known, but given the previous generation maxwell to pascal, and other such launches, we can expect the 1170 (for example) to be roughly on par with the GTX 1080 Ti.
