Gems of War - OP Build with Rock Worms (Gameplay Example, PS4 Gameplay)
*Note: This is from the original release version of the game. There have been more than a few updates since then, but this build is still valid to use. In fact, now that "Traits" have been added into the game, using the three Rock Worms is even deadlier. (If you can unlock said traits.)*
There is definitely more than one OP build in this game. The hardest part is getting the right troops for your team. That is the reason why I labelled this as a "Starter" OP Build. The only thing you need for this build is the Rock Worm. Three, specifically. There are a couple of reasons why this works so well.
1. The Rock Worm is a "Common" troop, and as such, you have a pretty good chance of getting them. I personally have lost track of how many of these things I have disenchanted... and I still have more!
2. Because the Rock Worm is a "Common" troop, the soul cost to lvl it to 15 is the lowest of all the troop rarities. (Same as other "Common" troops, of course)
3. When you train a troop, it applies to ALL extras of that troop as well. So, when you train the Rock Worm to lvl 15, ALL of your Rock Worms are now lvl 15. (This DEFINITELY helps you conserve souls.)
Now, personally, I would like to dabble with the build some more. I have not decided what weapon to use with my hero... or if I even WANT to use my hero. Also, 2 Rock Worms should work just fine, allowing yet another troop slot to be opened up for something else. (Although, I will admit that having the 3rd Rock Worm has saved me on a few occasions.)
A possible troop to use instead of a 3rd Worm could be the Deep Borer. It uses Red and Blue mana to create Brown, which will help fuel your Worms. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get my hands on a Deep Borer yet, so I have been unable to try that out. It also makes a nice addition because it comes from the same Kingdom as the Rock Worm, allowing for Kingdom bonuses to apply to both troops. A worthy substitute for the Deep Borer could be the Acolyte. It uses Blue and Purple mana to create Brown, and increasing it's Magic in the process, meaning more Brown mana on subsequent uses of it's skill. However, no Kingdom bonus.
As it is made "relatively clear" in the video, this build relies pretty heavily on luck. What you see there is one of the times the build worked "near" perfectly. There have been more than a few times where it didn't come off so well. The strength of the build lies in it's ability to chain multiple turns. Endlessly if RNGsus smiles on you. Or you could just be handing the game to the opposition. At the very least, the build can "easily", (RNGsus, remember?), get you through most quest-related battles. It was hit and miss with PvP battles, as some people DO have really beastly teams.
In the end, what build you decide to go with is clearly up to you. Enjoy the game, and, "Lead On!"
