I like this game. The difficulty is comparable to Nexzr, but I prefer Nexzr since this game's difficulty leans more on the for the wrong reasons side of things.
You can shoot, change options and redirect your options. In general though, search is the best option program to choose. It's quite bold to let the players access this many option programs on the fly, really! On Normal stage-design wise it's on the easy side of difficulty to no-miss, but the difficulty mainly lies on the bullet blending (Stage 1 is the worst example of this) and RNG (final boss). Otherwise it's well designed, albeit sparse and rely a bit too much on memo since the bullets are fast. Plus, this game is LONG! 45 minutes and that doesn't include returning from checkpoint each time you die! The game doesn't give you any shields either, so you better memorize stuff. Good thing recovery is not difficult. I think I can recommend this for beginners that want to train their memorization capability and stamina.
The real treat is the graphics and music. Outstanding even to this day as a port. So many parallaxes and great spritework. The music is a banger too. This game is some muscles away to approach Cho Aniki's greatness.
The port is nice. It has save states, localization, rewinds, in comparison the stuff it offers is equivalent to Capcom Arcade Stadium, which is nice. Not M2 quality, but that's too high of a bar to achieve.
Speaking of Masaya, I really need to tackle Cho Aniki 1.
