After Kratos searches for his son Atreus, he finally finds him with a strange woman trying to save the animal that Atreus shot at. It later turns out that that woman is a witch and that she knows that Kratos is a god and advises him to tell Atreus, but he tells her that this does not belong to her. After helping Atreus and the witch Kratos they leave to complete their journey.

After Kratos and Atreus leave Freya's house, they board a boat to complete their journey to the highest peak in Midgard, and on the way they stop in the boat for Atreus to read one of the ancient texts - he was good at reading books and texts - after reading the text they find that he is telling them to throw their weapons in the water, and indeed Kratos throws his ax Far into the water, suddenly one of the giants appeared out of the water, the serpent that surrounds the world of Midgard Jörmungandr.

After that Atreus tells his father that that giant serpent is a friend and will do nothing for them, then they continue their way to the highest peak in Midgard, but unfortunately a thick black mist appears before them, and the witch of the forest appears and tells them that the only way to remove that mist is to go to bring light from the world Alfheim - the world of the jinn or light.

Kratos and Atreus then head to the Chamber of Realms to go to the world of Alfheim. After entering the world, Kratos and Atreus head out to fetch the light that will help them clear the fog. After a difficult journey in the world of Alfheim, Kratos and Atreus return to clear the black fog and continue their way.
