God of War - triple jump and other oddities
358Remember that annoying little glitch in which you do an air attack that cuts off as you hit the ground but a part of the momentum still affects Kratos' basic movement and jumps, slowing him down? That glitch has actually found an use...
It has an application in long jumping, at least. In the second clip (where I jump to the cowardly soldier) I cut off Apollo's Offensive once, then run to get some speed going, and then Kratos has positive air momentum for your next two attacks at least. So you can do AO x 2, getting pretty good height and length, and use your other jump to do some more AO. It's enough to get to the other side even without starting your jump hanging from the ledge. Could be useful for long jumps at other places where ledges aren't an option.
An oddity: if you try to jump after the L1+something attacks at a certain time during this glitch, Kratos can do a strange triple jump. This bonus jump in between your two normal jumps is relatively insignificant, mostly useful for getting length to your jump, if even that. Still, I wonder what this is all about...
Attempts to do some height gaining with this are semi-promising. You can get almost as much height as with an ascension by doing 2x Falling Helios after the glitch, and your forward momentum will be much better than with any ascension move in the game. Included are some failed attempts of doing the Town Square skip using this glitch... it turns out, it's possible, and my technique just failed when I was making this vid.
Trying to roll of a ledge after this glitch is pretty cool, as Kratos refuses to fall down normally. You can also start spamming Medusa's Gaze to start airwalking backwards for a short length... maybe useful in some extremely specialized circumstance where there's no room to jump normally, but meh.
Oh! And I'm doing a major rehaul to the Glitch FAQ, reorganizing it so that there's a separate Weapons/Magic-section and such. Should be clearer to find some tidbits from in there soon.
