Why hello you lovely little peppercorns, my name's Noa Lee and Golden Axe 2 is often overlooked in favour of Golden Axe and Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder. Released solely on the Sega Genesis as an alternative to the true arcade sequel, Golden Axe 2 looks, plays, and sounds practically identical to the original game, but is that such a bad thing? A lot of Sega fans seem to think so.
Personally, I've always loved Golden Axe 2 even though I recognize that it's a slight downgrade to the first. Still, there's a lot of heart packed into this little weapons-based beat 'em up that I think makes it worth you time. The music in Golden Axe 2 and 16-bit graphics are of course its standout features, but something that isn't often talked about is it's unique character and enemy designs as well as its garbage AI. Wait, I thought this was a positive Golden Axe 2 review?
