The third and final Mega Drive outing was by far the best on the platform with a range of selectable routes, multiple ending and a great selection of moves for each character. Often overlooked by fans as it wasn't a port of the arcade game Revenge of Death Adder, despite the fact the Mega Drive had no hope of being able to handle the System 32 arcade game. Golden Axe III is a great game in every aspect and one all Mega Drive owner should have. Only released on the Sega Channel in western markets, only the Japanese version got a retail release. In this video we play as Kain Grinder who is the Ax Battler Barbarian character of the third game, looks almost the seem to.

Captured directly from a European Sega Mega Drive, note we are using a Sega 32X to plug the cartridge directly into the console due to it's wider cartridge slot. So yes the Japanese cartridge does work on an unmodified PAL unit as long as you have a bridge adaptor or don't mind taking the shell off the Mega Dive. Note this also means that the game is running at 50hz sadly and Randomised Gaming doesn't currently have a 60hz machine. Captured RGB Scart connected via a scart upscaler in order for it to work with an Elgato Game Capture HD, note the background hum we think is due to a cheap RGB scart lead, need to get a better one.
