GORF—short for Galactic Orbiting Robot Force—is an exciting fixed shooter arcade port released for the Commodore 64 in 1983, originally developed by Dave Nutting Associates and produced by Midway in 1981

The game features four unique mission styles, borrowing iconic gameplay elements from classics like Space Invaders, Galaxian, and Phoenix. You pilot a starship with full 8-way movement within the screen’s lower area and fire a “quark laser” that cancels existing shots when fired again—a subtle but powerful mechanic

Notably, the C64 version stands out by including synthesized speech powered by the Magic Voice or Votrax speech module—making it the only home port with in-game voice—adding a rare audio flourish at the time
