Grandma's secret.
135The brief for this story was to write a story starting with "I was never allowed"
As with a lot of my writing I draw upon memories and experiences and places from my own life. It would seem that in this case I had thoughts about the relationship between grand parents and grand children.
My grandparents were born in Victorian times when children were not encouraged to talk to adults. A kind of been seen but not heard. Therefore my relationship was very much as I have related.
Of course in any writing much is imagination but the description of the room is a accurate as I can now remember. My arguments to get out of having to visit have some truths but the rest is imagination in that I was trying to show my concern that my grandparents did not talk to me. Maybe it was not the case with all children of my generation and I sincerely hope that it is not the case today.
