Here's a short one for you folks, Green Beret or as it's more known as Rush'N Attack for the rest of the world. I figured why not check on the arcade originals first before playing the home ports...and boy this was a bit of a doozy.

It's not too hard or too easy either, you play as a green beret named Steve (they were given names by the home port, Steve is Blue and Ben is red.)

Our Green Beret is sent out to rescue his brother in arms that're soon to be executed by firing squad. With only a knife in for combat and a pocket full of miracles (wink wink), he sets out to and ventures through from the missile base to the ware house.

Controls are simple except...up is jump while the two other buttons are stab and using your weapon. As you make it through the stage, specific colored enemies will drop weapons for oyu to use, these incude a flamethrower, rocket launcher and grenades. Use them wisely, especially by stage 3 and 4.

Music though...it's just one lone track that drones on, sound effects are nice, the alarm is neat since it signals the whole place that a green beret with just a knife is taking everybody out. At the end of each stage you face a boss, they're all easy to deal with honestly, it's usually the stage that kills you.

You best memorize stage 3 and 4 as this is where bad enemy combinations pop in. Specifically the jumping soldiers and the ones who toss grenades at you, if you remember the order they spawn then it's an easy 1cc, if you're confident then a no death is very possible.

Not as fun as the home port really, it's good for a quick 1cc too. Plus it was when military themed movies were influencing japanese game devs, Capcom had commando then Konami dished out Rush'N Attack, Jackal and of course Contra.

There's also the GBA port which I will get to eventually as that had bonus features when you input the konami code. Would I recommend the arcade original over the home ports? Not really, Konami had a thing going on where the home ports far exceed their original arcade counter parts.
