Grind Stormer Game Sample - Genesis/MD

Grind Stormer is a cool Toaplan shooter published in the U.S. by Tengen. It's a pretty tough shooter that would be even more challenging if it didn't suffer slowdown, but it is a challenge as-is. The coolest thing about this game is the ability to play both Grind Stormer and V-V (V-Five), GS' Japanese counterpart, on the same cart.
While the game is basically the same, the way it is played is quite different. Grind Stormer plays like Truxton and other games where you can switch out different weapons that you find on the level and use powerful bombs. V-V is much more like Gradius/Salamander and you have to upgrade your powers by selecting them from the list and stockpiling more gems for cooler powers. V-V is essentially more balanced than GS because you have complete control over what powers you want and when, so long as you don't grab too many power-ups and skip the ability you want. This video shows the first level of both Grind Stormer and V-V so that you can get an idea of how the game mechanics work. Enjoy.
