Shadow hearts 3 is a weird game that can be forced to 480p but will crash on bossfights. 1080i doesn't cause that issue and looks just as good in my opinion.
The video has been edited to keep the intended aspect ratio and remove the borders from the video. I have also applied horizontal blur (0,0008). It has also been deinterlaced with interpolating fields and in order to get rid of overly high sharpness that results from 1080i upscaling.
Scaling to 1080i is interesting it takes the vertical resolution and puts it through 2x as many fields. and when it comes to horizontal resolution it assumes everything is 720 in width and stretches it all the way across the 1920 pixels. For games that actually run at full horizontal resolution it results in super widescreen and for games that run in reduced just regular widescreen.
You can avoid that by using one of the older versions of GSM which lets you set up the resolution.
