After the 2022 Philippine Elections, where I made a GTA loading screen, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. won the polls, becoming the 17th President of the Philippines. So I did an update that includes him in the Grand Theft Auto loading screen, which is ironic considering that today is the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law here in the Philippines.

Why the backgrounds?

Emilio Aguinaldo - He declared Philippine Independence from Spain on June 12, 1998

Manuel L. Quezon - He was the first president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines.

Jose P. Laurel - He stayed in the Philippines as the puppet President during World War II while President Quezon was on exile, as he ordered Laurel to stay in the country. His background was the Bataan Death March. Researching his time as President will actually observe that he is not as people think of a puppet president, but rather pro-Filipino than Japanese.

Sergio Osmeña - He went with Douglas Macarthur back to the Philippines as per the photo of them.

Manuel Roxas - The Philippine Independence from the United States happened on July 4, 1946, during his term as President.

Elpidio Quirino - The Japanese government honored him a memorial in 2016 for having a controversial move to grant pardon to Japanese war criminals and forgiving them even though they killed most of his family in the war, healing the relationship between the two countries after. His quote was " have granted pardons so that hatred against the Japanese will not remain among my descendants and the Filipino people.”

Ramon Magsaysay - He has given land to the farmers through the land reform program.

Carlos P. Garcia - He initiated the Filipino First Policy, though I put a jeep instead to show the Filipino-ness of his move.

Diosdado Macapagal - He changed the Philippine Independence Day's date, originally from July 4, which is the Independence Day in the United States, to June 12, where the country declared so from Spain.

Ferdinand E. Marcos - He declared Martial Law, which is now the 50th anniversary today.

Corazon C. Aquino - She was declared as President because of the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986.

Fidel V. Ramos - He handled the power crisis in the Philippines in the 90s to which he built power plants to counter the problem.

Joseph Estrada - He did an all out war against the MILF in 2000.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo - She took her oath as House Speaker in 2018, though it only lasted for 1 year.

Benigno Aquino III - It is during his term that the K-12 Program became law.

Rodrigo Duterte - He initiated the Philippine War on Drugs, to which millions of people surrendered, with thousands killed and arrested.

Bongbong Marcos - The father who was president and the son who followed his footsteps.
