Developed and released by Atari exclusively for the Arcades in 1992, Guardians of the 'Hood is the successor to Pit Fighter, retaining the same visual style of digitized characters and environments as its forebear. It is a brawler that focuses on stopping gang warfare in city streets.
Guardians is a brawler that has the player's character walking through the streets taking down gang members. The player can choose from four characters from the offset, but can eventually earn three additional characters by defeating them as bosses first. Each level has the player taking down gang after gang in a search for the evil Mr. Big. Gangs encountered are The Dreads, The Shavers and The Dragons.
