So, we've tried SSE emulation, but the emulator thing doesn't work on Windows 10. If anyone with 7 wants to try, I can provide instructions.

Basically:
- https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/pre-release-license-agreement-for-intel-software-development-emulator-accept-end-user-license-agreement-and-download Download that
- extract it and put the files in with NMS.
- make a shortcut of sde.exe
- in the shortcut target at the end after the closing qoutation sign, append "-- NMS.exe" without the qoutes so your path would be: "C:\whereverGameFolderIs\sde.exe" -- NMS.exe
- run as administrator

If you get steam license errors while trying to run NMS from the game folder (or using sde as above), try this:

In the Binaries folder for NMS (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries), create a file named steam_appid.txt and type the number 275850 inside. This *should* work. If not, remove the .txt after steam_appid and try again (forgot about hidden extensions in Windows).
