I hate, hate hate HATE this fight Solo. The Shadow of the Dragon is rather unfair to certain professions like the Mesmer since we only have that rather meh mantra for stability. Not to mention how squishy we are. So if you are playing a Mesmer expect to die a few times if you're going in solo. Maybe put on Mantra of Concentration instead of Blink. Blink's issue this fight is well there's just so much stuff to dodge you'll probably end up blinking towards danger anyhow.

The fight itself goes like this:

Phase 1: Kill Tendrils, watch out for boss jumping down into the middle with huge AoE.

Phase 2: Avoid the insane amounts of AoEs, explosive plants of death, the attacks from the boss while walking into the sparkly area to get the Divine Fire Buff. Use Divine Fire buff on the gear marked spots, once all done you progress to the next phase. Braham will shield the spots now and then. His shield grants stability and protects you from everything except the burrow attack. Occasionally Shadows will spawn. Destroy them with the Divine Fire buff or they will put on your fire! Don't let that happen.

Phase 3: The dragon is vulnerable, hit it. I don't think there's any point to hitting the shadows here. They're just a distraction unless I missed something. Be careful of the AoEs but honestly they're really wonky and weird, lots of hitbox issues and other things in this phase.

Rinse repeat over and over and over.

What other advice can I give? I died at least three times in total but at least the dragon doesn't heal if you resume from check point. If you died with a lit fire though I think they will reset.

The main part that gives people trouble is the phase involving the Divine Fire. In this phase you need to light up the marked spots with the buff. To get the buff walk into a sparkly area. Sadly Rox sometimes throws the buff spot right by one of the explosive plants of death. Regardless once you have the buff try to wait for Braham to shield the location or you so you can interact with it and light it on fire.

After that a shadow may appear. Kill the Shadow by picking up the Divine Fire buff and hitting it once. You'll lose the buff but if the shadows are left alive they'll put out the fire! Light all the fires and you'll be able to hurt the dragon for a little bit. The hitboxes are waaaay off though.

The main reasons I hate this fight? Favors certain professions, too much crap to dodge at once and it's a lot of playing the waiting game again since if the buff is placed in a crappy place you'll die and if you are downed you are as good as dead. I kind of miss straight up battles.

Oh and the cutscenes afterwards are interesting but...just not as hype inducing as the end of season 1 IMO. The plot twist was something most players figured out long before Season 1.

Also I really hope we aren't stuck working mostly with Caithe, the flashbacks with her made her less likeable. She really believed Faolain's lies? lol. Oh and of course she runs away instead of helping us. The egg is important but she could have at least done something or been less vague to us. Instead we're inevitably going to have to track her down again.
