Gun-Nac (Famicom) - Intro Theme (Super Famicom Cover)
"Hey, Andrew! You already did the intro theme to Gun-Nac three years ago!" Yes, but I wanted to do it again but on the Super Famicom/SNES with Furnace. You may remember that I called Gun-Nac the best shoot'em up game on the Famicom and the NES, and that sentiment still stands today. Plus, it's been a year since I last did anything with the Super Famicom, so it's about time I did something. I've had the idea in my mind to cover the intro theme using instruments from another Compile shoot'em up game, Super Aleste/Space Megaforce for at least a few months. Just a few days ago, I decided to play some Jaki Crush, which was also made for the Super Famicom by Compile, since I hadn't touched it in a while. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent title screen theme and its sampled distorted guitar. I realized that I could just use the samples from Jaki Crush, and it ended up working out pretty damn well. By the way, you might've noticed how just about everything I've done on the Super Famicom has this terrible popping sound. I've tried to figure out for over a year what was causing this, and only now did I find a solution. There's a compatibility flag in Furnace that auto-inserts a tick gap between notes, which gets rid of that popping, so you won't hear that in this. I also have since realized that I've messed up with the echo volume in most of my previous Super Famicom work since setting the echo volume for either the left or right speaker to a negative value completely removes the echo if you're using a mono audio setup (this mainly affects people that use only one earphone or earbud when listening to audio). Of course, I made sure to make the echo volume a positive number in both speakers, so that won't be an issue here. I must say that I'm surprised at how similar the synth sample in Jaki Crush is to the one in Super Mario Kart, and it fits this song very well. I also ended up giving the song a Gradius/Eschatos vibe with the orchestra hit sample, which was definitely not what I expected to do when I started working on this. Overall, I'm very happy with how this turned out, and I'm eager to know what you all think of it. Enjoy (also fun fact: Gun-Nac is a portmanteau of Gunhed (Blazing Lazers) and Zanac)! ^w^ \n\nHere are the downloads for this song: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gxOPLefnEnFoRDs3vlm2KK8Biuzty1zO?usp=drive_link \n\nComposed by: Toshiaki Sakoda \nSuper Famicom Arrangement by: Andrew Ambrose \n\n\n\nPatreon Shout-outs: \nAustin Kaiser \nHolly \nEric M Ambrose \nKerokoid \n\nBe sure to share this cover if you enjoyed it, and consider supporting me on Patreon (100% optional): https://patreon.com/AndrewAmbrose
