GunBot - Game Walkthrough (World 1)
143Robots. With lizards and guys who burst into flames. And the robot has a giant beetle for a sister. Ah, and did I mention that this is a western side scrolling game? Heh, if that doesn't pique your interest, I don't know what will.
The game starts off with a basic plot before getting to the actual meat of the game. The plot is ridiculous and seems to be just scrapped together to provide a premise for giving a robot cowboy a gun and sending him off to shoot things. That's not to say it's bad though, it's actually rather good and silly and quirky enough to be entertaining.
The game starts you off with a basic gun, and a single basic skill, the edge grab. The edge grab allows you to, what else, grab on to edges and pull yourself up. As the game progresses, you can unlock new skills as your XP increases. As for guns, you've got the Thunder Bolt, your basic western sci-fi shooter. More guns are available for purchase, and a few can be unlocked as you get further along in the game.
In addition to that, you've got different shields that can give different bonuses. Your basic Shield 1 only provides you with shielding capabilities. More advanced ones though can give you XP bonuses, cash bonuses, and speed bonuses. Though the game is free to play, you can purchase diamonds which will unlock premium weapons. You can also get diamonds by challenging friends to the game giving you an excuse to show off your mad skills with the game and to grind your chums into the dirt. Ahem. Though you probably shouldn't tell them that last part if you want to remain friends.
Each level pits you against various baddies from armor-plated buzz-saw wielding lizards, to flying monstrosities. Each of these monsters is very well drawn and designed, giving them their own unique feel and flavor. Their good enough that it can often be rewarding enough alone to just go through the game to see what new baddies the game has in store. And as the levels progress, you'll see more and more of these baddies.
The first few levels are easy enough, and shooting the baddies gives you experience and money. The money you can use to purchase new weapons and shields. What weapons are best is really a matter of personal preference. Do you enjoy shooting things rapidly? Spray and pray? Or perhaps you want to shoot them once and be done with it? There's a wide variety of weapons available, and purchasing different weapons and shields will unlock more to purchase. Take note though, that the game gets pretty hard pretty fast, so you have to make the choice of either saving up for the really great gun, or going through each one gun by gun to scale with the difficulty of the levels. The choice is yours.
If you really want to unlock things more quickly, you can purchase diamonds. You'll still collect them over the course of the game, but purchasing them by bulk will allow you to get some of the best weapons in the game without having to work hard at getting all those diamonds by unlocking all of those achievements.
In closing, I must say this is a rather fun and addictive game. It's sure to keep you entertained blasting lizards, worms, and whatnot into oblivion for hours on end.
