Half-Life 2 Enhanced in 2023, Cinematic Mod 13, and PS5 DualSense [RTX 3070, Core i9, 4K, 60 FPS]
The original Half-Life 2 released in 2004 and was the sequel to the iconic original Half-Life released in 1998. Half-Life 2 was epic and paved the way for almost every 3D shooter that followed. A modder group known as Fake Factory spent years on their own unofficial Half-life 2 Remaster project called Cinematic Mod. Finally in 2013, they made Cinematic Mod 13. The visuals are amazing at Ultra HD 4K 2160p, and 60 frames per second. Almost every graphical element in the game is enhanced in a huge way. Character models are way more detailed. Environments have been overhauled to have more objects and geometry. Weapons are redone, and now with ironsights, and scope aiming like modern shooters. Even the music is bigger and more pronounced during action sequences.
And now ten years later, in 2023, I have finally installed all of this once again (done many times) but this time with everything running optimally. I even got my PS5 DualSense Controller operating in the game properly with a custom button config, vibrations, and even haptic triggers via reWASD software.

Half-Life 2 is a 2004 first-person shooter (FPS) game developed by Valve. It was published by Valve through its distribution service Steam. Like the original Half-Life (1998), Half-Life 2 combines shooting, puzzles, and storytelling, and adds features such as vehicles and physics-based gameplay. Players control Gordon Freeman as he joins a resistance movement to liberate the Earth from the control of an alien empire, the Combine.
Half-Life 2 was created using Valve's Source engine, which was developed at the same time. Development lasted five years and cost $40 million. Valve's president, Gabe Newell, set his team the goal of redefining the FPS genre. They integrated the Havok physics engine, which simulates real-world physics, to reinforce the player's sense of presence and create new gameplay, and developed the characterization, with more detailed character models and realistic animation.
Half-Life 2 was released on Steam on November 16, 2004, and received universal acclaim. It won 39 Game of the Year awards and has been cited as one of the best games ever made. By 2011, it had sold 12 million copies. Half-Life 2 was followed by the free extra level Lost Coast (2005) and the episodic sequels Episode One (2006) and Episode Two (2007). In 2020, after canceling Episode Three and several further Half-Life projects, Valve released a prequel, Half-Life: Alyx.
