Halo 2's New Mombasa was a location designed to impress players with the scale and complexity of the sequel's level design compared to what had been possible in the first game. This was especially true of some of the early pre-release gameplay trailers based on maps and technology Bungie subsequently had to scrap altogether because their ambitions well exceeded the hardware capabilities of the original Xbox. What's left in the final product is a pretty drab city, but apart from those awful instadeath snipers (honestly, what where they *thinking*?) there are nonetheless plenty of tense fights to experience in these urban environments.
