Halo 2. The followup to the console selling, genera defining, emotion evoking, childhood changing, machine we known as Halo: Combat Evolved. Few games can coin these terms. I'm sure you can think of some of your own off the top of your head as well. A game that made close friends even closer. All nighters, pizza parties, every 12-20 year old gamers birthday dream party. All they needed was a few copies of Halo and for their friends to brings their Xbox's. Have dad setup the Lan Splitter and Mom paying for the pizzas and you now had yourself the recipe for a the perfect birthday party that the memories created their would last you longer than the friends themselves.
Let's address the elephant in the room. Games can make you mad. It happens to everyone in some shape or form. Right? Maybe it's just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyway. LAN parties offered a break. I also think we all had that one friend that was just way better than everyone, right? At LAN parties, you take a break, go grab a slice of what's probably cold Pizza by not and slam a Dixie cup of Dr. Pepper and watch your friends who continued to play for 10 minute and hop on the next game. Online games don't offer that. Most of the time you are alone, in your room. You get mad, you put the game down, you step back for a minute. Then stepping back turned into getting on Reddit for 30 minutes and then you don't even want to play anymore. Maybe that's just me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We got off topic a bit. Let's get back. In-between Halo CE and Halo 2, as a Halo fan you didn't get a lot. We got Halo: The Flood written by William C. Dietz released 04/01/2003 and Halo: First Strike released 12/2/2003 written by Eric Nylund. The Author of Halo: The Fall of Reach (Released 10/30/01). There is plenty of Lore in-between But back in 2003, We had a Halo CE and three Novels that take place before, during and after the events of Halo CE. Eagerly waiting for Halo 2 to come in what became known as November 9, 2004 at the E3 2002 conference.
