A Frame Rate Test of the Halo 5 Guardians Campaign on Xbox One. The footage was recorded from the launch day version of the game.
Halo 5 targets 60fps and uses an adaptive vsync solution. However, it is very rare for the game to tear and when it does tear it seems to be confined to the top of the frame.
The 60 frames per second target is held very closely and most of the few dropped frames seem to be the result of checkpoints and loading in new areas of the game. These dropped frames can manifest as relatively large frame time spikes that can be as large as 100ms, but this doesn't have much of an impact on gameplay since they usually occur outside of combat.
Halo 5 uses a dynamic resolution system to maintain its 60 fps target. We see resolutions ranging from approximately 1180x840 all the way up to full 1080p.
As always, please watch in HD (preferably 1080p) and 60fps for the best viewing experience.
