Bioshock Playstation 3 FOV and FPS Cap Frame Rate Test

Here we have a Bioshock Frame Rate Test comparing the performance of the Playstation 3 version running various configurations of the performance altering options. All footage was captured from the latest PS3 digital version which was consequently installed to the hard drive.
The test shows that Field of View (FOV) has little impact on performance, and the differences between the high and low field of view options are likely within the margin of error. We also see that during less taxing scenes the game can internally run quite a bit higher than the 30fps cap, but when under stress the game often runs at less than 30 frames per second.
Please note that analysis in the last clip may not be entirely accurate. It may be the case that the game is actually running above 60fps in that clip as the game can do that when the fps cap is disengaged. My performance analysis tools are incapable of detecting torn frames when this happens as there is no duplicate lines shared with the adjacent frames. So when viewing that clip think of the framerate there as a lower bound on the performance.
As previously mentioned tearing only seems to occur when the game is running above 60fps or when a frame was recently torn.
The Playstation 3 version of Bioshock runs at a native resolution in the region of 1208x680.
As always, please watch in HD (preferably 1080p) and 60fps for the best viewing experience.
