Taktisches Strategiespiel in der Welt der Nordmänner, 1994 von Holistic Design Inc. entwickelt und von New World Computing vertrieben. Hammer of the Gods kann man zusammen mit Kings Bounty als einen der Urväter von Heroes of Might and Magic zählen, hier kann man allerdings keinen eigenen Helden erstellen, sondern der Held ist quasi als Herrscher im Hintergrund vorhanden. Das Spiel hat einen interessanten Spielablauf: Anstatt wie in anderen Strategiespielen aus der Zeit muss man nicht einfach nur die Welt erobern, hier muss man die Götter selbst zufrieden stellen in dem man verschiedene, immer schwerer werdene Aufgaben erfüllt, um am Ende die rechte Hand von Odin höchstpersönlich zu werden, zum Götterhammer. Sehr gut hat mir das Artwork und auch die kleineren Details im Spiel (wie z.b. das Holen des toten Helden durch die Walküren nebst den passenden Wagner Soundtrack oder die tolle Kampfanimation der Berserker) gefallen.

Hammer of the Gods can be counted along with King's Bounty as one of the forefathers of Heroes of Might and Magic, but here you can not create your own hero, but the hero is present as a ruler in the background. The game has an interesting playstyle: Instead of like in other strategy games of the time, you do not simply conquer the world, here you must please the gods with absolving more difficult becoming quests to end up as the right hand of Odin himself, the Hammer of the Gods (Götterhammer in german). In the game i like the artwork and the smaller details of the game (eg bringing the dead heroes by the Valkyries, together with the matching Wagner soundtrack or the great battle animation of the Berserker).
