Mr. Willems has been awarded three American Library Association’s Caldecott Honors, two Theodor Geisel Medals and five Geisel Honors for his books. Mr. Willems started his career as a writer and animator for Sesame Street, where he earned six Emmy Awards. His work has been exhibited around the world and over the last decade, he has written three musical theater works based on his books.
Tom Warburton is a man of many talents. He is an animator, producer and writer. You may know Mr. Warburton from his hit animated television series, Codename: Kids Next Door. Mr. Warburton learned his craft on several historic productions such as Beavis and Butt-Head, Disney’s Fish Hooks, 7D and the Muppet Babies. In his latest venture, Mr. Warburton co-wrote and produced Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience together with Mo Willems.
Ms. Wicks La Puma’s musical resume is beyond impressive. She is a composer, music director, orchestrator and a choral conductor. She is one of the most produced Theatre for Young Audiences artists and has received the Off-Broadway Alliance Award, Jane Chambers Playwriting Award, Robert M. Golden Award and more.
In a nod to rock stars, fashion icons and naked mole rat lovers, Mo Willems’ fan-favorite Naked Mole Rat, Wilbur J. Mole Rat, Jr., will emerge from his underground tunnel on Thursday, June 30, on Cartoonito on HBO MAX, in Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience! The CG animated hour of “underground” music and comedy will also debut later on Cartoonito on Cartoon Network.
Based on Willems’ New York Times best-selling picture book, “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed” (Hyperion) and sold-out theatrical rock experience (Seattle Children’s Theater, The Alliance Theater, and venues across the nation), the animated rock opera tells the fun and funny tale of a sensitive, curious, and rockin’ Naked Mole Rat named Wilbur (voiced by Jordan Fisher) who “scandalously” decides to (gasp!) get dressed! The message of authenticity and accepting others are in perfect harmony with Cartoonito’s Humancentric Learning Framework.
