You might have heard the news already, but longtime Capcom employee and Street Fighter series producer Yoshinori Ono just announced that he's departing from the company after nearly 30 years of service. He made the announcement on the eve of his birthday - August 10 - and it definitely garnered a lot of emotions and feedback from the video game community.
For me personally, I have great respect and gratitude to the man who always carries a Blanka toy (one that I proudly own as well), as he was one of the guiding forces behind the revival of the Street Fighter brand with "Street Fighter IV" over a decade ago - leading to a new renaissance for fighting games and reinvigorating the fighting game scene! There have been also hits and misses during his tenure - with success and hype coming from his appearances and announcements at tournaments like EVO and CPT, and then Street Fighter x Tekken and the start of Street Fighter V.
Regardless, the man is owed a debt of thanks for his contributions and work! Many Happy Returns, good luck in your future endeavors, and SHO-RYU-KEN to you, ONO-SAN!!!
