Having a Prime Cog Doesn't Make You a Prime in Transformers One. As you've seen in the movie Orion, D-16, Elita, and B-127 received them cogs. That would ultimately upgrade their bodies and grant them ability to transform into their alt modes. And these weren't just any cogs. These were none other than cogs that once belonged to 4 of the original 13 Primes. After witnessing these amazing upgrades many fans have started to assume that it means that all 4 characters must be Primes now. To which I hate to inform you isn't the case. Its important to remember that Alpha Trion specifically stated that the cogs would help them unlock their true potential. And that it wasn't the cog that defines the transformer but the spark that resides in their core. Which explains why they didn't necessarily gain any of the Prime's powers from the cogs. They always had those abilities and alts mode locked within them. The final reason would be that you have to be born a Prime like the OG 13 were or chosen to be by the Matrix of Leadership.
