HDMI modified Gamecube: Why recording 480i source is bad!
Part of my 9th Anniversary upload to Youtube....
Just before 2016, I got my hands on a modified Gamecube that supports HDMI output. Now just because it has the 4 Letters does not mean it supports resolutions higher than 480p.
NintendoLife then recorded a few gameplay videos including Melee and The Wind Waker and I was really disappointed that the original source was set to 480i, not 480p.
You can see the notable jiggling issue when seeing both Choose Your Character and Results screen.
Inb4 their defence is: PAL version.
Now here are a few fun facts about PAL GC games.
For NTSC GC games, you get 2 video output options:
480i interlace or
480p progressive
For PAL GC games, you also get 2 video output options:
480i - 60hz interlace or
576i - 50hz interlace
Notice that there is no 480p option?
Well there is a solution that works on a fair majority of must-have Gamecube games with the notable exception of Metroid Prime 1 & 2..
You need to get:
SD Media Launcher GC disc + a SD - GC card ,
and an 2GB sd card with the file called Swiss.dol
After loading up Swiss through SD Media Launcher, change GC disc to a PAL GC game like Melee, then press A to load disc and then X to go to options, set video mode to Force 480p
Now you can play the PAL version of Melee in 480p mode!

BadAssConsoles is planning to do one for America and the method is going to be different and probably better than VideoGamePerfection.
