0Marie Vigoreaux is a rapier-wielding fencer of the Fabris tradition who hails from the Kingdom of France.
Backstory
Marie Vigoreaux is a French Noble Lady and spy. She is the honorable guest of Starosta Marcin Krasicki at the castle in Przemysl. Her life suddenly became very complicated when she heard that someone named Samuel Zborovski had killed her contact during a random quarrel. Samuel may have read some letters that could expose her, so Marie had to silence Samuel Zborovski as soon as possible.
Advantages
Footwork is extremely fast allowing for excellent entering and exiting of measure
Point is always pointed toward opponent therefore the blade has to travel minimal distance to hit target when using point attacks
Attacks with the point are direct therefore little warning for the opponent
Attacks flow well together when stringing point attacks allowing for multiple target areas in rapid succession
Feints are fast with minimal openings
Her attack range is huge making it hard for the opponent to enter without getting hit when entering distance
Disadvantages
Her defence against attacks to the head is almost non-existent
Her slashing moves are hard to land, are very situational, and deal little damage
When the fight gets into close range Marie's long range turns against her as it becomes a massive blindspot
Being a linear fighter gives her less angles of attack, her good side step attacks are still linear
Other character’s blades can over power Marie’s defence
Marie is extremely vulnerable to blade beats and her sword, being presented very forward, makes it very easy for her to get her blade beaten away
Extra Notes
Learning Marie’s perfect distance and maintaining it is key
Side stepping in response to your opponents side steps will keep you out of danger
Attacking as your opponent starts an attack will provide an opening since a point attack is faster than most slash attacks
Knowing when to change the line of attack will allow you to get past the opponent’s defence or take advantage of their attack angle
Using your short guard (long guard for everyone else) will allow you to avoid blade beats from the opponent
Use your slashes as feints to set up lunges or other point attacks
Side step to set up a lunge at a good angle
