Dark mode is a new web feature added in Chrome 76 that is enabled through the CSS user preference media query `prefers-color-scheme`. This talk covers not only the full technical background about supporting dark mode per se, but it also goes into great detail on the motivations why people want dark mode and how site owners should ideally implement it on their sites to accommodate for all users' preferences: those who see dark mode purely as an aesthetic gimmick, and those who see dark mode as a necessary accessibility tool.
