The purpose of this showcase is to highlight my PhD thesis work on a community empowerment programme using technology to safeguard diminishing living heritage, or intangible cultural heritage (ICH), in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. It is a qualitative study that aims to evaluate a youth education programme using the Value Creation Framework (VCF) (Wenger et al., 2011) for assessing communities of practice (CoP), and a phenomenographic approach to analyse the intergenerational experience of the youth participants collaborating with culture bearers. Findings indicate that there is a great potential of using innovative technologies and digital media to empower and motivate youths to champion the safeguarding of ICH in the community.
