You will step into the sandals of Greek strategists and runner at the battle of Marathon, hold the line with the navy from Athens against Persians at Salamis or lead a campaign of plots and backstabbing as Queen Olympias. A new faction is also introduced in the DLC, called the Hatti.

The Expansion has be released simultaneously with the Steam/GOG release of the game, and will be free to every player who claims it in the first 2 weeks after release, up to 2nd of Jun.
The Heroes of the Aegean expansion contains scenarios from throughout Greek history, ranging from the Battle of Marathon and the 300 Spartans' stand at Thermopylae all the way to the birth of Alexander the Great and the fracture of the Macedonian empire after his death.
Scenario 1: Lead Athens in the famous Battle of Marathon
Scenario 2: Resist Persia at the historic battles of Thermopylae, Salamis, and Plataea
Scenario 3: Lead as Philip II and create the Macedonian Empire
Scenario 4: Play the widow Queen Olympias as you shepherd the young Alexander the Great into leadership
Scenario 5, Alexander’s campaigns of conquest
Scenario 6: Choose one of Alexander’s generals and carve an empire out of the chaos brought by his death
A new faction, the Hittites, was added in the DLC with it's own unique units, noble houses, buildings and bonuses.
Conquer the Old World in this historical, epic strategy game from Soren Johnson at Mohawk Games, Lead Designer of Civilization IV and Off world Trading Company. Every year is a turn, and each leader is a mere mortal, so your lasting legacy will be the dynasty you leave behind.
Orders are a resource used to issue commands across your nation. Instead of moving every Unit every turn, as is traditional in 4X games, each Unit can be moved multiple times until the Unit becomes Fatigued or the player runs out of Orders.
Each ruler must prove that they are worthy of the throne. As you accomplish Ambitions, finish Wonders, and gain renown (as “the Wise” or “the Avenger” or “the Peacemaker”).
Old World has a powerful and deep dynamic event system that generates a procedural story for your nation based on your decisions, your accomplishments, and your Characters. The game has over 3,000 unique events, many of which are inspired by historical incidents from the period.
Your dynasty can achieve victory by fulfilling 10 Ambitions, each one more difficult than the last. These Ambitions are dynamically generated from the Events of your game and the desires of your Characters.
Each nation has four noble Families who can be granted stewardship of your cities, with each one providing unique and powerful bonuses. Territory grows organically based on where the player constructs Improvements and trains Specialists.
Resources in the Old World, such as Food, Wood, Stone, and Iron. A dynamic marketplace allows players to buy and sell the resources at any time. The Technology Tree borrows mechanics from deck-building games to add variety and create interesting decisions.
