(English below) Hexplore es un juego de rol y acción, muy del estilo Diablo, cuya mayor peculiaridad en su día era su motor hecho con voxels, lo que le confería un efecto 3D sin necesidad de tarjeta gráfica, y sin perder esencia de gráficos 2D. En su día se veía muy bien, y creo que sigue siendo resultón. Por lo demás, es un juego sólido, del que guardo gratos recuerdos, si bien claro está, desde entonces han salido juegos del estilo mucho mejores.

Este juego se vende actualmente en GOG, en donde lo compré a pesar de conservar el juego comprado en su día. Cuando uno compra juegos clásicos en GOG, espera que funcionen en PCs actuales, lamentablemente muchas veces no es así, no pocas veces tienes que aplicarles tú mismo arreglos, o en este caso, ni funciona en Windows 11, y he probado con varios wrappers de DirectDraw (el juego viene con el suyo, pero como digo, no funciona).

Afortunadamente existen otras alternativas. Por ejemplo, yo lo muestro jugándolo en un Windows 98 emulado con DOSBox Pure (es la misma versión de GOG, eso sí, hay que eliminar el archivo ddraw.dll o no funcionará). Y como se puede ver funciona perfectamente. También lo he probado en PCem con windows 95 y funciona, pero va más lento.

Hexplore is am action-RPG game, very Diablo style, whose main peculiarity in its day was its engine made with voxels, which gave it a 3D effect without the need of a graphics card, and without losing the essence of 2D graphics. In its day it looked very good, and I think it still looks great. Otherwise, it's a solid game, of which I have fond memories, although of course, since then there have been much better games of the style.

This game is currently sold on GOG, where I bought it despite keeping the game I bought back in the day. When you buy classic games on GOG, you expect them to work on current PCs, unfortunately many times it is not so, not few times you have to apply them yourself fixes, or in this case, it doesn't even work on Windows 11, and I have tried with several DirectDraw wrappers (the game comes with its own, but as I say, it doesn't work).

Fortunately there are other alternatives. For example, I show it playing it in a Windows 98 emulated with DOSBox Pure (it is the same version of GOG, yes, you have to remove the ddraw.dll file or it will not work). And as you can see it works perfectly. I have also tested it on PCem with windows 95 and it works, but it is slower.
