This is the first ever video showcasing how to beat Hidden Cave Zone in Sonic 2 SMS Remake with full explanation. This will cause the special ending to appear.

A demo of Sonic 3 SMS: Timelines containing only Turquoise Hill will release at SAGE 2022. It will have 16-bit remixes of the songs by Remixis SG by default which are absolutely phenomenal. After Espio sees Super Sonic and Tails take the mighty Master Emerald to a secret place, the chameleon along with his friend Vector, go in search of it.

The new and secret zone, Hidden Cave is a mix of Mystic Cave and Hidden Palace from Sonic 2 Genesis. This zone will be the end of the game, being accessed after Sonic and Tails retrieve the Master Emerald, and only with Espio and Vector.

Hidden Cave Zone is a puzzle place, created by the Master Emerald to protect itself from those, who are not worthy of finding it.

Only in this zone, it will be possible to know the true end of the game, or rather the beginning of a sequence.

Also, thank you Araya for making my request come true as I once asked if the unused song from Sonic 2 SMS will be added as an extra to replace Crystal Egg's music and now it does if you use the 16-bit soundtrack and the song itself to be remade in 16-bit glory was requested by me as it wasn't initially planned by RemixisSG to remake that for this game (as this music was planned for Hidden Palace but was ultimately replaced by Tidal Tempest Past from Sonic CD)
