The Hoenn Throwback Challenge starts today at 1pm local time in Pokémon GO and lasts until May 22nd at 1pm local time.

The features include:
• Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region, eg. Skitty, Zangoose and Seviper, will be appearing more often in the wild.
• Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region will be available to battle in raids.
• Lotad, Slakoth, Nincada, Skitty, Sableye, Mawile, Trapinch, Feebas and Clamperl will be hatching from 7km Eggs.
• Pikachu wearing Rayquaza hats will be appearing in the wild.
• If you're lucky you may encounter a Shiny Skitty.
• Event-exclusive Field Research tasks will reward encounters with Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region.
• The distance needed to Hatch Eggs and earn Buddy Candy will be halved.

The challenges are:

Step 1:
• Catch a Rock-type Pokémon
• Catch 3 Fire, Grass or Water-type Pokémon

Step 2:
• Catch a Fighting-type Pokémon
• Power up a Pokémon
• Make 3 Nice Throws

Step 3:
• Catch an Electric-type Pokémon
• Send a Gift to a Friend
• Make 3 Curveball Throws

Step 4:
• Catch a Fire-type Pokémon
• Earn a Candy Walking with your Buddy
• Catch 3 Weather Boosted Pokémno

Step 5:
• Catch a Normal-type Pokémon
• Make 3 Great Throws
• Power up Pokémon 3 times.

Step 6:
• Catch a Flying-type Pokémon
• Catch a Water, Bug or Electric-type Pokémon
• Battle another Trainer

Step 7:
• Catch a Psychic-type Pokémon
• Catch a Ghost-type Pokémon
• Give your Buddy 3 treats.

Step 8:
• Catch a Water-type Pokémon
• Take a snapshot of a Water-type Pokémon
• Evolve a Pokémon.
